“You never know how someone’s feeling when you harass them on the street.”

I was on my way to a job interview one morning, feeling anxious and pretty on edge. While waiting to catch a tram into the city I noticed a man in a big truck stopped at the lights, staring at me. I tried to avoid eye contact by facing the other direction. When I turned back around to check for the tram he was still staring at me, and as the lights changed he leaned forward so he could stare at me more, and honked. I made sure he saw my middle finger as he drove away.

It made me pretty angry, as usual; had to vent about it to a friend so I could calm down again before my interview.

Needless to say I really did not appreciate that while I was all nervous. You never know how someone’s feeling when you harass them on the street. It’s never made me feel good, but sometimes it can really get to you.

I've got your back!
