“I was shocked by their idiotic, unnecessary statements and also unhappy at how uncomfortable it made me.”

I was coming back from the grocery store on at 5 pm last Friday. It was a gorgeous sunny day with a light breeze, and I was really happy to be riding my bike for the first time in months. As I was riding through an intersection I noticed a large group of people waiting to cross. There were maybe 9 people, 5 of which were men, and they were mostly middle aged or older with two younger kids (not a bunch teenagers or anything like that). I thought it was a bit strange that so many people were waiting to cross at once but as I got closer the men started to yell at me. Each of them had something different to say.
“Nice legs”
“Are you sure you’re gonna make it?”
“Better hurry up”
“Look at that!”

One of those assholes wolf-whistled me, and someone else made a comment about my breasts. I was incredibly uncomfortable by this stage and waited a few seconds after passing to give them the finger. I was greeted by a chorus of “Ohhh!”‘s which assured me that they were still watching. I was shocked by their idiotic, unnecessary statements and also unhappy at how uncomfortable it made me. I found myself constantly checking my top as I rode home, although I knew it was high enough not to show anything. I also couldn’t believe that they were fully grown men doing this in the presence of women and children. I wonder how it made the rest of their group feel.

I've got your back!
